Redistricting

Overview.

Assisted the New Orleans City Council in developing a final submission to the Federal Government for Redistricting Recommendations by holding Community Meetings in every council district and absorbing feedback to ultimately create the new councilmatic lines in the city of New Orleans Council districts.  The plan was accepted and adopted by the Department of Justice. 

W. Anthony Patton (WAP) Agency, LLC was responsible for creating design and plan development with each council member for meetings, feedback loops, and media distribution to ensure good attendance at meetings throughout the process. Also, we were responsible for community feedback, documentation, and submittal of all community engagement to the department of Justice for entire process. The result of the outreach was that the council district lines were successfully planned and accepted by the community and the department of Justice.

It was our job to create radio, print, and web ads for targeting the General, African-American, Hispanic and Asian communities. We also executed an extensive grass roots outreach campaign across the Districts to assist in cooperative outreach via Schools, Churches, Non-profits, and all other. The results of our efforts resulting in finding more than 20,000 persons were touched and participated in the Redistricting Process.

Strategy & Results.

• 25,000 Event Fliers distributed throughout Districts

• 20 print, radio and TV paid advertisements broadcast across the parish

• Over 12 Community Engagement Events throughout the Parish

• 10 public meetings held with citizens, community leaders & elected officials

• Over 30 regional editorial endorsements received from newspapers across the state

• 1 million e-mails distributed by Redistricting and supporting businesses, churches, and community organizations through an aggressive “viral marketing” campaign.
